Given the length of the ministry of the Two Witnesses (1260 days = 42 months = 3-1/2 years), it is possible
to correlate these events to the Antichrist of Daniel's 70th week.
1. In Jesus' prophecy, the Great Tribulation begins with the emergence of the Antichrist
"standing in the holy place" (Matt 24:15-23) and "standing where it
should not be (Mark 13:14-23).
2. The ministry of the Two Witnesses takes place when the Temple is preserved while its
outer court is being "tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months" by the nations
(Rev 11:2-3).
3. In the Third Interlude, when Satan empowers the Antichrist (the Beast from the Sea), the
beast emerges with the authority to act for 3-1/2 years "to make war with the saints and to overcome them."
It appears that the Great Tribulation starts near the the beginning of Daniel's 70th week.
There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority
to act for forty-two months was given to him. And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to
blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven. It was also given to him to make war
with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given
to him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the
foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. And he opened his mouth in
blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven.

4. Given that the ministry of the Two Witnesses is 3-1/2 years and the Antichrist "makes war
with the saints and overcomes them" for 3-1/2 years, they overlap. The Two Witnesses were murdered after the
Fifth Trumpet at the mid-point of Daniel's 70th week.
