While Satan has always opposed God (Gen 3:1-5), disbarment from heaven appears to be the
root cause of his anger towards God's Son Jesus Christ and all those who follows the Messiah:
And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth
to the male child. (Rev 12:13)
So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who
keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. (Rev 12:17)
While on earth, Jesus warned His disciples of the coming persecution of their faith in Him.
Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe? Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to
be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things
I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome
the world." (John 16:31-33)
"Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations
because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will
arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. But the one who endures to
the end, he will be saved. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations,
and then the end will come." (Matt 24:9-14)
"For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the
creation which God created until now, and never will." (Mark 13:19)
"But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you
to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name's sake. It will lead to an opportunity for
your testimony. So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; for I will give you utterance and wisdom
which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and
relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be hated by all because of My name. Yet not a hair
of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives." (Luke 21:12-19)
