When the angel in the Temple of God sounded the first trumpet (Rev 8:7), one of the four
angels standing at the four corners of earth (Rev 7:1-3) throws hail and fire mixed with
blood to earth.
This results in 1/3 of the earth, including 1/3 of the trees and all of the grasses to be burned up.
