When the angel in the Temple of God sounded the fourth trumpet (Rev 8:12), one of the
four angels standing at the four corners of earth (Rev 7:1-3) strikes a third of the sun,
a third of the moon, and a third of the stars.
This results in 1/3 of the day without sunlight and 1/3 of the night without any light from the moon or stars.
