Monotheism

Monotheism is the belief in only one god.

Of this classification, there are the four major monotheistic religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Sikhism. It may be worthwhile to note that Judaism arose suddenly at a time when most of the world religions were largely animism or polytheism. Both Islam and Sikhism developed rather late: Islam (7th century) and Sikhism (15th century).
