Approach: Learning about the importance of the Promised Land through God's ratification of His
covenant with Abraham.
Hermeneutic objective: By observing what a covenant is and how it is ratified, the unique nature of
the Abrahamic Covenant is seen. Understanding the geographical context of the Promised Land provides the basis
of understanding how it eventually is fulfilled.
Theological objective: The covenant that God makes with Abraham is unilateral and unconditional. In
Revelation, after the end of human history, New Jerusalem literally fulfills the dimensions of the Promised
Land.
