Approach: Studying a few passages to observe how sin and guilt are related to each other.
Hermeneutic objective: Perceiving God's judical / legal approach to sin and its association to guilt.
Theological objective: Sin produces guilt whether the offender is aware or not. It is the commission of a
crime, offense, or doing something wrong. By God's judicial standard, sin is practically synonymous to guilt.
However, God has provided a way to pay for the penalty of sin and absolve our guilt. God offers
the Suffering Servant as the guilt payment for our sins; we do not suffer God's judgment of our sins!
Faith in God's only Son Jesus Christ, who died in atonement, is the only way to permanently remove
the guilt of our sins.
Reading God's word and learning how to be holy, as God is holy, helps us keep from sinning and
feeling guilty for failing God.
