Trinity: Creation
(Gen 1:1-2, 26; Col 1:15-17)

1. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth." (Gen 1:26, CSB)

When God said, "Let Us," who is God referring to?

Before you take a guess, let God explain Himself:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Gen 1:1-2, CSB)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and by him all things hold together. (Col 1:15-17, CSB)

2. This is just the start of understanding the idea of the Trinity. If you haven’t had a chance to read the Bible, new ideas like this are hard to understand. As you spend more time in Sunday School and reading the Bible, you’ll see and understand what this means. Take a moment to draw what you think God means when He speaks of "Us" and share it with the class.
