And John bore witness: "I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself
did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes
with the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God." (John 1:32-34, ESV; also Matt 3:16-17; Mark 1:10;

And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power
from on high." (Luke 24:49, ESV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8, ESV)
But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him,
"Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?" And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, "Bind him hand
and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matt 22:11-13)
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound
like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and
rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them
utterance. (Acts 2:1-4, ESV)
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed
with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and
given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (2 Cor 1:21-22, ESV)
He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. (2 Cor 5:5, ESV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control; against such things there is no law. (Gal 5:22-23, ESV)
while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed
according to his will. (Heb 2:4, ESV)
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and
drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" Now this he said about
the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
