Why is there a Resurrection?

Lesson Abstract  |  Print Lesson / Teacher Notes

1. Listen carefully to this passage. What do you observe about God?

Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God: I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Matt 22:31-32, CSB)

2. Listen carefully to this passage. What does Jesus mean by “the life?"

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
“Yes, Lord," she told him, “I believe you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who comes into the world." (John 11:26-27, CSB)

3. Listen carefully to this passage. What happens if your name isn’t found in the Book of Life?

Then I saw a great white throne and one seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them. I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books. Then the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them; each one was judged according to their works. Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:11-15, CSB)
