Sin is Evil

God clearly indicates that by eating the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve were enabled to discern good from evil.

The Lord God said, "Since the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not reach out, take from the tree of life, eat, and live forever." (Gen 3:22, CSB)


1. With careful observation, what does it mean when you know the difference between good and evil?

When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time, (Gen 6:5, CSB)



"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15, CSB)




2. How does God define what is evil?

The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord's sight. They worshiped the Baals and abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt... (Judg 2:11-12. CSB)



Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals." Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame. (1 Cor 15:33-34, CSB)
