Is the Holy Spirit God?

Is the Holy Spirit like an angel? If not, how is the Holy Spirit like God? Is the Holy Spirit God? Is the Holy Spirit Jesus?

1. Circle the names you observe for the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of the Lord God is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners; (Isa 61:1, CSB)

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you. (Rom 8:11, CSB)

You show that you are Christ’s letter, delivered by us, not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God—not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. (2 Cor 3:3, CSB)

because it isn’t you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father is speaking through you. (Matt 10:20, CSB)

What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice because I know this will lead to my salvation through your prayers and help from the Spirit of Jesus Christ. (Phil 1:18-19, CSB)

And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then God has made you an heir. (Gal 4:6, CSB)

2. What Godly attributes do you observe of the Holy Spirit?

Where can I go to escape your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.
If I fly on the wings of the dawn
and settle down on the western horizon,
even there your hand will lead me; (Ps 139:7-10)

Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,
or who gave him counsel?
Who did he consult?
Who gave him understanding
and taught him the paths of justice?
Who taught him knowledge
and showed him the way of understanding? (Isa 40:13-14)

how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works so that we can serve the living God? (Heb 9:14, CSB)
