How can I understand what I am reading?

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert place. And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and join this chariot." So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (Acts 8:26-31, ESV)

Coming in 2026 on some Sunday after church each month, Helpmewithbiblestudy.org will present a 30-45 minutes seminar to help students learn a variety of study methods through the study of various Bible passages including those submitted by students. Through these seminars, you will see God's word in a different light, gain an appreciation for the literary beauty of His word and elegance of His logic. Dates to be announced soon!

Because few churches teach biblical hermeneutics, these seminars are open to all in support of the many ministries that God uses to reach this world. These seminars are intended to:

• Provide you with a variety of methods of how to carefully observe the text and study objectively.
• Introduce you to the concept of developing a working hypothesis for testing and refinement.
• Enable you to build a sound foundation from which to build a coherent systematic theology from Genesis to Revelation.
• Enable you to teach and be a blessing to another at your church or ministry!
