Fulfillment of His Promises

A Series on the Lovingkindness of God

These Bible study lessons are designed to complement the myriad of study guides and plans available today. Through them, we hope to introduce sound study methodology, build a strong foundation of knowledge from which you can build and integrate a more coherent and comprehensive understanding of God's word and theology.

While some aspects of divine covenants have been fulfilled (i.e. Gen 22:15-18; Deut 18:15-19; John 5:45-47) and can be evaluated historically for their truthfulness (i.e. Gen 15:13, see the articles "Statue of an Asiatic Man from the Tell El-Dabca, Egypt (R. Schiestl)" and "The Canal of Joseph"), what about those that have not been fulfilled? Do eschatological prophecies contradict the promises of God's divine covenants?

1. Observe carefully the covenant made with Noah (Gen 9:11-17). Who is it made with? Examine its implications prophesized for the future (Rev 16:1-21; 19:11-21). What do you see?

2. Carefully observe the Abrahamic Covenant's dimensions of the Promised Land and measure its distance (Gen 15:18). How does this compare (Rev 20:10-16)? Draw the dimensions of New Jerusalem on a map. When were the books Genesis and Revelation composed?

3. Examine the stipulations surrounding the restoration of God's people in the Land Covenant (Deut 30:1-6). How does this compare ([Matt 24:29-31; Rev 14:14-16], [1 Cor 15:51-54; 1 Thes 4:16-18])?

4. Focus your attention on God's promises of peace to David (2 Sam 7:10; 1 Chron 17:9). How does this compare (Rev 20:10-15; 21:22-27)?

5. Observe what God will do in the New Covenant (Ezek 37:26-28). How does this compare (1 Cor 15:24-28; Rev 21:1-4, 10-11, 22-27; 22:1-5)?
