The Bible speaks of sin in a broad sense to include intentional and unintentional offensive behavior towards
an individual, nation or God.
The act of sin includes the whole process from commission to consequence; it sets in motion a process of
destruction that affects the individual and his community.
Often contrasted against God’s character of goodness, sin is portrayed as morally bad / evil, depraved /
corrupt that opposes God and threatens one's existence.
The systematic study of this complex issue of sin is called Hamartiology.
